POLE FISHING – CHOOSING THE RIGHT TOP KITS

GARBOLINO TOP KIT OPTIONS

Buying a new pole is a big decision, but one of the major factors you need to consider is what type of kits you need for your pole. Many poles are now built to cope with most pole fishing situations. However, there are lots of different kits on offer, many of which are bundled together in specific pole pack offers, so you must carefully consider which kits are correct for the style of fishing you plan to be doing. Here is a guide to the kits that are available for your new Garbolino pole

MATCH THE QUALITY OF THE KIT TO THE POLE

As the carbon quality of your pole increases, so too should the quality of the kit, which can purely be judged by the price increase increments. Basically you are paying for higher quality material built on the same mandrels. This higher quality will normally give you lightness and rigidity, which will help the balance and performance of your pole.

GARBOLINO POLES - STANDARD FITTING TOP KIT

The STANDARD top 2 kits are historically the most commonly used on GARBOLINO poles. All our current standard kits, and all kits listed in this article are compatible with all mid to premium Garbolino poles created over the last 10 years, this also includes the more recently added pleasure oriented models.

STANDARDS TOP 2 KITS

These are a simple top 2 hollow kit, most of which are already fitted with a PTFE bush ready to elasticate. These standard top 2 kits are best suited to a more traditional ‘silvers’ style of fishing with light to medium elastics fitted through both sections.

However, stronger ‘POWER’ models are available if required for fishing for bigger fish, especially in deep water or rivers where the puller kit is not a viable option.

STANDARD PULLER TOP 2 KITS

Predominantly designed to help play bigger fish, especially carp, giving better control by reducing the amount of elastic the fish is able to pull. Each Puller Kit is already fitted with a PTFE bush in the tip and a GARBOLINO PTFE integral puller system.

The less elastic available the more the elastic ‘powers up’, and by stripping the elastic out of the chamber via the puller bush, the angler can increase the pressure on the fish. This can dramatically speed up the landing process once you have shipped down to the top 2 kit. Puller kits are available in both carbon quality/price as well as power grades. These kits are perfectly suited for all commercial carp pole fishing for fish of all sizes.

STANDARD COMPACT K1 PULLER KITS

These shorter 1.82m single section kits replace the Standard Top 2 kits. Designed to accommodate a shorter amount of elastic, which makes it even easier and quicker to control fish; as well as making it much easier to fish very short rig lines which are often required when fishing very shallow in open water, against Islands or tight into margins. A very short line above the float helps convert more bites into fish landed. The shorter kit also means that lighter elastics work much more efficiently. These lighter hollow, or hybrid elastics are now much more frequently used for F1 and small carp fishing. Available in SHALLOW ultra-compact-power-tip and MARGIN ultra-compact-power-margin-kit versions. A ‘must have’ kit for the commercial F1 pleasure or match angler.
